Sr. Database Devops Engineer
The Role
Tesla is looking for a Passionate DevOps Support Engineer with a specialty in database technologies, to join our Database engineering and operations team. In this fast-paced and dynamic role, you will work closely with the System Admin, Storage and other cross-functional teams to bring automation and stability to database platform and help us deliver robust, reliable, consistent and predictable database services while ensuring 100 % availability of database platform.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with DB team members to automate Database provisioning including setting Database clusters.
Work and collaborate with software development teams to optimize the performance of critical applications within Tesla.
Design and implement full application stack application and database monitoring for critical applications for Tesla.
Help enabling database platform with self service interface enabling development teams to use database platform as service
Explore and use open source tools to help detect DB issues proactively.
Use/Develop database automation tools to automate existing database tasks.
Respond appropriately to emergency support situations and produce quick and effective solutions to database technical problems under high pressure.
Participate in an on-call rotation and other duties as defined by Tesla management.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related IT field, or equivalent in experience.
3-4 years' experience working in DevOps role with focus on database platform and evidence of exceptional ability.
Experience with Linux and Windows system administrator skills.
Experience in multiple database technologies like Oracle, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL Databases like Mongo, Redis, Vertica.
Experience with migrating or working with database in clouds like AWS (any or all of EC2, S3, EBS, ELB, RDS, Dynamo DB), Azure.
Strong scripting experience in multiple languages: Shell, Python, Powershell, etc.
Strong skills in automation and configuration tools like Puppet, Ansible, Jenkins, Stash, Chef, Salt.
Experience setting up monitoring / alarming for production DB environments with tools like Nagios, Fog light, Cacti, Grafana.
Understanding of distributed computing environments.
Strong documentation, analysis, troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills.
