Field Service Support Engineer - Balance of Plant

The Role Balance of Plant Specialist is part of the Commercial Program Management Team.
The team is responsible for the developing and improving processes and procedures that support the field service on Tesla's Energy Products in North America.
Team provides direct support to field service technicians in the field to complete their service.
The primary role of the Field Service Support Engineer will be to organize, prioritize, track and report on multiple O&M projects of various sizes and complexities across Tesla Energy's Commercial Sites.
To support this, you will collaborate cross functionally with engineering, finance, training, and IT (Information Technology) teams to improve processes, increase efficiency and bring Tesla Energy's operations to the next level.
Field Service Support Engineer will also provide direct support to Field Service Technicians for complex troubleshooting, Shutdown, Startups, dead checks, or remote diagnostics.
They will also be available for on-site support as needed for major evolutions or support emergency response.
Responsibilities o Collaborate with EHS&S team on safety requirements for working on Balance of Plant equipment.
o Communicate and lead project requirements, status, and results to various stakeholders.
o As project lead, document project approach, timelines, milestones, and deliverables and present to leaders of the service organization.
o Independently handle multiple projects at a time meeting objectives and deadlines.
o Identify further internal process improvement areas to improve fleet performance and serviceability o Apply out of the box thinking, problem-solving abilities and infrastructure maintenance experience to solve complicated problems o Identify root causes to complex maintenance challenges.
Develop solutions to complex problems and be able to present relevant information to a non-technical audience.
o Provide support to FSTs (field service technicians) for proper operation of Balance of equipment for shutdown and startup.
Assist FSTs on proper verification of equipment deenergized and Electrical Safety checks.
o On-site support for complex jobs that require expert knowledge of troubleshooting and repair o Collect feedback from Field Service team on issues and processes that require improvements.
o Improve Field Service MV training, documentation, and product knowledge databases.
o Provide MV training and certification to technicians and electricians in the field.
o Certification of Field Service team on executing Energy Control Procedures.
Requirements o 5
years of experience working on Balance of Plant equipment (35kV-480V switchgear) o Extensive knowledge of switchgear components (relays, load break switches, cables, potential transformers, current transformers, breakers, etc) o Able to work through and identify single and three line drawing issues and can communicate issues back to Engineer of Record to seek verification and corrective actions needed o Extensive knowledge on testing electrical apparatus and switchgear and can identify issues on 3rd party and internal test reports.
And can carry out testing if needed.
o Problem solver, self-motivated and proactive in problem solving o Able to work through problems and solutions with minimal guidance o Extensive knowledge of Electrical Safety, NFPA 70e and OSHA.
o Knowledgeable in the use of Arc Flash rated PPE and electrical safety test equipment o Excellent organizational skills with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness o Proponent for continuous improvements (Process, product, technology) o High proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
o Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with complex and demanding deadlines.
o Exceptional communications, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills.
o Experience working across and successfully influencing multiple internal stakeholders (supply chain, finance, engineering, training, etc.
) o Must be able to travel up to 2 weeks at a time.
o Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment criminal screen.
